Our Lifeline

From the outside we appear as people: man or woman, black or white

others only see what we give them, never bothering to look through a different light

it matters not how we dress, how we speak, or even how we dine
but what goes on within ourselves is truly how to define

there are moments in our lives where worry or pain consume our thoughts
the world begins to look gloomy, our happiness begins to rot

but because on the outside we can put on looking happy and okay
